Is Andy Murray's reputation for match length true?

Is Andy Murray's reputation for match length true?

Hello,

Welcome to this fourth tennis post. For better visibility, I advise you to look at my posts on a computer (for the size but also because the colors differ on a phone that has a dark theme like me. If the theme is light, only the size makes it difficult to read).

Today, visualization of the length of matches on the ATP circuit since 1998. With a focus on Andy Murray because he has the reputation of playing long matches very often (link), so that's what we are going to see !
To see this, I used data from Jeff Sackmann (already used in the previous publication).

Unfortunately, the data on the "Minutes" variable does not seem very reliable after some analysis. Indeed, there are for example a lot of matches of 3 sets lasting 50 minutes, which is impossible. And conversely, matches of much too long a duration compared to the score (6/0 6/0 for example). So, I decided to use confidence intervals (taking into account the court surface and the number of games played during the match) to try to automate more reliable data selection. However, my method is not rigorous because the variable does not follow a normal distribution, but let's say it's better than nothing and keeping all matches...
I also removed matches that did not end in a classic way, the NextGen Finals tournament (because of the set format), as well as matches that had no value for the duration variable obviously.
Finally...I only kept the matches which took place in the best of 3 sets.

After some data manipulation....

We can therefore see that Andy Murray's reputation is not overrated!
However, Rafael Nadal outclasses all his opponents in this aspect, we can clearly say that extended matches do not scare him...

I would still like to point out that the data on this variable is incomplete and not very reliable, so analysis should be carried out with caution!
