Neymar injuries

Neymar injuries

Hello !

Welcome to this 5th football post. For better visibility, I advise you to look at my posts on a computer (for the size but also because the colors differ on a phone that has a dark theme like me. If the theme is light, only the size makes it difficult to read).

Today a dataviz on Neymar and his injuries. Because yes, it is still relevant today unfortunately. He was injured 3 days ago (2023-10-20, article) with the Brazilian national team, for a long time because the injury is serious.
This new injury made me want to illustrate this recurrence in his career.

We can see that he started having long absences due to injury at a young age (last 2 years at Santos) but this calmed down at Barcelona. It was in Spain that he was able to best express his talent. This is probably the flagship phase of his career and where he perhaps also had a better lifestyle which could explain a lower frequency of injuries.
Unfortunately, after his big transfer to PSG to be the headliner of the new owners' project, he started to get injured regularly again, missing at least 1/3 of the year in each season.
All football observers join together to express their sadness at the turn that Neymar's career has taken compared to what we could have hoped for from him initially (to become one of the best players in history). His career gives a taste of unfinished business given his talent.

Thanks for reading! I hope it was clear and you liked it.

PS : I apologize because I realized too late that I used the "French" pages on Transfermarkt so certain parts of the script use French words ๐Ÿ˜ฌ.
